Dr Edna Sun completed her medical training at the University of Western Australia. After a few years of hospital training, she completed her general practice training, and received the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in Perth. She has been working as a general practitioner since then, with a special interest in mental health, children's health and women's health. She enjoys teaching, and has taught medical students from both Notre Dame University and University of Western Australia. She is also a medical educator for WAGPET (GP registrar training body), and performs external clinical teaching for them. She is an examiner for the RACGP fellowship examinations. 

 

Through a patient, Dr Sun was introduced to the area of Integrative Medicine. She finds this an exciting modality that allows her more tools that can to be used where conventional medicine options have been exhausted. She holds a Fellowship of the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine. She attended the ACNEM conference in Melbourne in November 2014 and in Sydney in November 2015.

 

She has also completed her certification (CFMP) with the Functional Medicine University based in the US. This university is affiliated with the Southern California University of Health Sciences, and is accreditated by the accredited by the federally (US) recognised National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

In 2020, she became a Fellow of the Australian Society of Lifestyle Medicine.

Special Interests

 

Dr Sun has special interest in nutrient deficiencies, gut health and preventative health. 

​

She is not experienced in using functional medicine to treat patients with cancer or autism. She does not prescribe bio-identical hormones, perform IV nutrients, do heavy metal chelation or perform complex DNA testing.
